    Scholarship in Teaching
In December 2009, I abandoned my plans to do a thesis and changed to a course-based route. Therefore I will take this class and attempt to wrap up my learning in the Masters of Education program.

    Writing to Learn.Know.
I think that this year, from May 2009 to April 2010, I will have written to learn more than ever before in my life.
Maybe this is one huge advantage of online classes with online discussions going on. One has lots of opportunity to write and to learn as you write.

Pushback: I thought teacher-librarians took care of books but now I discover they should be (and most are) doing so much more. How can I ever go into this position (teacher-librarian) and try to combat the misinformation of teachers about the teacher-librarian's job? If you want to read more of my thoughts on this issue, go to http://docs.google.com/Doc?docid=0AcFjvCJPacXIZGZ6ejk3ZDhfODdkNm5ocTJobQ&hl=en
I had to work with three students from other sections of this class (only names on a page to me) to create a wiki about Personnel in the Library. We held one Elluminate session to decide how to proceed. Visit our wiki.

One of the enjoyable assignments in this class was the 3 part evaluation of a school library.
Evidence-based practice and action research can be used in the future when I have my own school library.

One of my online classes with 3 weeks left to go, 1804 posts to class discussion. I have posted 265 of those posts.
In that same class, I had 12 assignments (one a group assignment with someone who lived in another province, our final assignment will be the entire class. One person lives in Korea so it is really hard to get together.)
Regrets and guiltRegrets: Did not read all the articles in ECUR 801
Did not participate in all class discussions

    1. Joyce Valenza's Manifesto: http://rielliott.blogspot.com/2010/01/rt-internethaiti-we-are-all-twitter.html
"Knowledge in the Industrial Age was viewed as fixed, authoritative, discipline-bound, obtained and owned by individuals, and regarded as ‘the truth’. In contrast, knowledge in a knowledge-based society is constantly changing, contested, interdisciplinary, and collaboratively constructed and re-constructed by ‘amateurs’ for massive audiences." In this class, I had a group project with another student. We created a wiki and examined a research article on the use of Facebook by university students. You can visit our wiki here: https://faceworking.wikispaces.com/
We have decided to do a group project for the Future Vision project for this class. We are using Henry Jenkins' Core Media Literacy Skills. One student lives in Korea and another in PEI so getting together for Elluminate sessions is difficult. You can follow our progress as we build a wiki together at: https://visionofthefuture.wikispaces.com/
